Infiorata di Noto, Noto flower festival event
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

The flower festival is held annually in May in Noto in Siracusa province. There is always a lot of people participating. Noto itself is really nice town to visit in anytime, but specially during this flower festival the whole town starts blossoming.

So what is the special thing about Infiorata di Noto?

They prepare a street with flowers and flowers leafs. Actually it looks like a huge decorated carpet and you definitely should see that from close distance, even if it means waiting and queueing a bit. You should see it as well from higher level from a balcony situated in front of the flower "carpet". From there you can see the Mediterranean Sea also.

Meanwhile visiting the town you could just have a lunch break at the Cathedral Square have tasty sandwich,  made of horse meat, or two, if you like! One has to eat, right? You can easily spend whole day visiting churches, museums, theatre and lots of other local attractions.

Highly Recommended!

Morning in the famous fish market, Catania

This is a real Sicilian folklorist thing, not just a tourist attraction. Most of the buyers are local people and few wandering tourists. Open daily except on Mondays from 8 AM till lunch, more or less. Probably you already know that punctuality isn't an issue in Sicily.

Cutting swordfish

His Majesty, Sword fish

I Woke up early in the morning, grabbed my photo camera to shoot some pictures and to share this experience with you. The fish market is located behind the main square Piazza Duomo. When you find that just follow the noise (and smell). These sellers are screaming in very loud voice, they have to beat the competitor. You won't feel that you are in Europe at all. All the fish is fresh, so the smell isn't that bad what you could imagine.

It's amazing to see how fishermen and marketers cut and clean the fish. The ground is wet so it's recommended to wear some closed shoes. You can find fruit and meat as well in the zone.
