ITALIAN authorities are closing in on Sicilian mafia supremo Matteo Messina Denaro, Interior Minister Roberto Maroni said, as he announced the arrest of Denaro's brother and 18 associates.
“The noose is tightening on the most wanted fugitive, Matteo Messina Denaro,” Mr Maroni said in Milan, adding that he was “confident that we will soon arrest him as well.”
The 19 under arrest, including Denaro's brother Salvatore, face charges of Mafia association, illegal transfer of goods and extortion, according to Italian media.
