Weekly wine deal: Nero d'Avola from Sicily
AddThis Social Bookmark Button
From Sicily comes a red wine that works at the table or on the deck.

Nero d'Avola is one of my favorite emerging red grapes, and there's no better introduction than the Arancia Nero D'Avola ($8). It's vivid and smooth but robust enough to make a magnificent match with grilled meat or fowl. In fact, this pinot-noir-like grape is one of the better food-pairing varietals around. Not bad on its own, as a patio sipper while we still might need to dress in layers for such endeavors.
